76 of 1651 Berwick Road, died suddenly on Thursday, June 23, 2009 at her home.
Ruth was born on the family farm in Warren County, the daughter of Ray and Junie (Courson) Allen. She married Raymond W. Purchase on August 27, 1950 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg IL. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Ila and Ada, and six bothers Marion, Troy, Leo, Russell, Lyle and Harley.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond G. Purchase of RR Berwick, IL and Steven A. Purchase of Monmouth, IL; three grandchildren, Jason Purchase, Jeremy Purchase and Stephanie Arnold; 8 great grandchildren; and a sister Doris Dopp of RR 6 Galesburg, IL.
Ruth had lived in Warren County near Abingdon all her life. She graduated from Abingdon High School. She worked in the Admitting and Billing Department at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg retiring on September 28, 1994. She loved working in her yard and just being in the outdoors.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday, July 27, 2009 at the chapel.
