Paul Edwin Howard, 63, of Riner, VA, died on Wednesday, July 22, 2009. He was born on March 29, 1946, in Texas to the late William Henry and Vera Oleta Carter Howard. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret Harbor Howard; children, Robert Howard and wife, Ann, and Mitzie Munroe and husband, Jason; grandchildren, Brendan Colin and Liam Munroe, and Legend Howard; and brothers and sisters, Kenneth Howard, James Howard, Gloria Livingston, and Patricia McDearmon. He enlisted in the United States Navy at 17 years of age and served 24 years, including two tours in Vietnam. He later retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was currently working at the Kroger Fuel Center. He enjoyed hunting and golfing, and was an avid reader. The family will receive friends at the Horne Funeral Home on Friday, July 24, 2009, from 5 until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009, from the graveside in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The Howard family is being served by Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg, Va.
