Phyllis Ann Burkett Bull, 62, 4827 S. Sixth St., Abilene, Tex., died Monday (March 5, 1990) at an Abilene hospital after a lengthy illness of lupus with related disorders. Mrs. Bull was a former Le Mars resident.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. March 8, 1990 at First Baptist Church in Abilene. Dr. Bull Bruster
and Sue Rowlett officiated. Private graveside services were held in Midway Cemetery in Abilene, under
direction of Elliott-Hamil funeral home of Abilene.

Phyllis was born Sept. 14,1927, in Sioux City, Iowa to Lowell and Edith Gabel Burkett, natives of the Adaville
area. She grew up in Le Mars. The Burket family left Le Mars in 1937 and lived a year in Los Gatos,
Calif., while her father Lowell Burkett was with the CCC. They moved to Omaha where they lived for seven
years, moving back to Le Mars when Phyllis was a senior in high school. She finished there, but went back to
Omaha to graduate with her class at Tech high school in Omaha in 1944.She graduated from Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing.

Her marriage to Eddie Bull took place June 4, 1948 in Temple, Tex. The family moved to Abilene in 1952
and lived there until 1982. They lived in Amarillo three years and returned to Abilene in 1985.

Mrs. Bull was a registered nurse with Orthopedic Associates for 20 years, and Hendrick Medical Center
for five years. From 1987-89 she was with Hospice of Abilene as patient care coordinator. She was an active member of the Texas Nurses Association and American
Nurses Association, serving on various committees and holding offices in local and state levels. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Bull of Abilene; a daughter, Shirley Hamilton of Austin; two sons, Eddie U. Bull Jr. of Midland and John Bull of Abilene; her mother
Edith (Gabel) Burkett of Abilene; three brothers, Kenneth Burkett of St. Joseph, Mo., John Burkett of Alexandria, Va. and Terry Burkett of Austin; three sisters, Mrs. Duane
(Jeanne) Olson of Elk Point, Linda Smith of Atlanta, Ga., and Margery Barnhill of Abilene; a sister-in-law
Alberta (Singer) Burkett of Anaheim, Calif; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Bull was the niece of Mildred Stoel and Alice Wilier of Akron,and has many relatives in the area. She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother Gordon Burkett.
