The family was in Huntington County, Indiana, for the 1840 census, and was there until August 1847, when Simon and Sarah signed over their land. In 1850 they are living in Allen County, Indiana, and were there until sometime after the birth of their tenth child about 1857.
Before 1860, Simon had moved his family to Missouri and is found in Salem Township, Daviess County. On September 23, 1860, their last child is born in Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa. His wife, Sarah, died November 4 of that year and is buried in Iowa. Some of the older children married in Iowa, while the younger ones went back to Missouri with Simon, where they settled in Madison Twp., in Mercer County before 1870. This was the last move for Simon.

BIRTHDAY DINNER
September 3rd [1894] being the 82nd anniversary of the birth of Simeon Miller the friends and relatives to the number of seventy gathered at the home of his son-in-law (Mr. Henry Alexander) [husband of daughter, Charlotte] to spend the day and eat dinner with him.
Uncle Simon was born in Union County Indiana; came to Missouri in '58, where he has since resided.
The day was spent by the old folks in talking of pioneer life, while the young folks gave them some good vocal music. When dinner was called all seemed to enjoy themselves, especially Mr. J. W. Bussell and Mr. S. E. Combs who had to be helped from the table.
There were present at this dinner two children, nineteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren, there being five children who were not there. [Of a total of eleven children only seven were living at this time.]
In the evening all returned to their homes feeling that it was a day well spent.
