Funeral services for Betty Beverly, 82, of Lovington will be held Saturday, July 25 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church with Vergil Ichtertz officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 24, from 3 pm until 7 pm at the funeral home. Services are being conducted by Kirby-Smith- Rogers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cornerstone Ministries who provide food and clothing for the needy. The address is: Cornerstone Ministries, PO Box 745, Lovington, NM 88260.

Betty Marie Robertson Beverly was born August 14, 1926 in Slaton, Texas to Estel Allen Robertson & Esther Leona (Hamilton) Robertson who preceded her in death. She passed away on Tuesday, July 21st at her residence. She married Walter Beverly on July 22, 1945 at the FUMC in Lovington, NM and they shared 64 years together.

Betty was a lifetime Methodist and a member of FUMC in Lovington for 49 years, always giving of her time and always helping others. She was a 47 year member of Order of Eastern Star and served in many capacities. She graduated from Cooper High School in Woodrow, Texas and then attended college for 2 years at Texas Tech. She loved her family and grandchildren and her friends. Betty's philosophy of life was "however bitter the cup which our Heavenly Father gives us, it will in the end overflow with blessings, rich, abounding and eternal."

Surviving her are her husband, Walter of the home; two sons, Mike and wife Karen Beverly of Lovington, NM and Jim and wife Barbara Beverly of Placitas, NM; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one brother Max Robertson of Slaton, TX and one sister Kathryn Cade of Slaton, TX. As well as the others she considered her own "even though she didn't have the papers on them."
