W.G.W. HARPER IS DEAD AT RIPE OLD AGE.
Fine Old Gentleman Passes Away After Useful Life of Many Years In Coffee County.
Monday afternoon Hon. W.G.W.Harper died at his home south of Brockton. He had not been strong for some time and his death was not a surprise. He was near the four score years and ten mark. Mr. Harper was familiarly known as "Uncle George." There has never lived in the county a more unselfish, noble character than Uncle George. Uncle George was for years a teacher. He also farmed. For six years he was clerk of the circuit court. In every capacity he gave the best he had to service. Mr. Harper was not careful as to money matters. He was not extravagant himself, but he cared little for money, and when a little ahead, he loved to get rid of it by giving it to friends or relatives whom he deemed more in need of it than he. Mr. Harper was a Mason in good standing, and his brethren paid to his memory the last tribute of respect, by following his remains to their last resting place and there giving to them a burial at New Home Tuesday. Uncle George leaves a widow, his second wife, and many children and grand-children, whose death is to be regretted, and whose good deeds are to be commended and emulated.
