Death of Samuel Anstine.
Samuel Anstine, of Peckham, Okla., who is an old time resident of Bolton township, west of the city, died Saturday night at his home. Mr. Anstine was well and favorably known in the city. He was about 70 years of age and he leaves six children, three sons and three daughters. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Mt. Zion church, west of the city.

Samuel Anstine
Samuel Anstine was born in Pickaway county, Ohio, August 29, 1849. He removed to Logan County, Ill., near Lincoln. He grew to manhood in this place and on June 16, 1869, was married to Eliza Ellen Shoup. To this union ten children were born, five of whom survive him; Virgil G., of Butler, Okla., Adam E., of Newkirk, Fred L., of Peckham, Winifred S., of Geuda Springs, Kans., and Effie L., of Peckham, Okla. His wife and nine grandchildren also survive him. One brother, Manuel, and two sisters also remain. Mr. Anstine answered the call for volunteers, during the Civil war and served his country faithfully in the 106th Illinois Volunteer infantry. He was a loving husband and father, a true friend and a tireless worker. He accepted Christ as his Savior and died with consciousness that his peace was made with God. His death occurred on Sunday, June 15, 1913, at his home in Peckham. He was at the time of his demise, aged 72 years, 10 months and 17 days. Rev. King, of Peckham, a close friend of the deceased, conducted the funeral services at Mt. Zion church on Monday, June 16, and his mortal remains were laid to rest in Mercer cemetery beside the remains of a little son, John who preceded his father more than 20 years ago. The I.O.O.F. of Geuda Springs conducted services at the grave. A host of old friends both in Sumner and Cowley counties as well as friends at Peckham, will mourn his loss. The bereaved family are assured of the deep sympathy of their many friends in this community.
