Thomas P. Anderson was the son of Leonard Anderson and Rosanna Hadden of Logan Co., Kentucky. He was 1st married to Mary Jane Neel, who died on Feb. 23, 1847 in Logan Co., Kentucky, after giving birth to their infant son on Feb. 20, 1847. The infant son was either stillborn, premature or died the same day he was born. Thomas and Mary had three other children: John, Louisa and Presley.

He was remarried on Sept. 16, 1847 in Logan Co., Kentucky to Sarah Ann (Moody) Wright, daughter of Alexander Moody and Ann Neel of Logan Co., Kentucky. Thomas and Sarah had one daughter, Margaret "Maggie" Jane, who was born in 1851 in Logan Co., Kentucky, shortly before the Anderson family settled into Johnson County, Missouri.

Thomas, age 85 is showing in the 1900 Census, living as a boarder with the Frank C. Adams family of Hazel Hill, Johnson County, Kentucky. Thomas passed away on February 10, 1909 and was laid to rest next to his 2nd wife, Sarah. Thomas' Obituary shows his 1st wife, Mary Jane's name and his four surviving children as John L.
