He was 1st married to Mary Jane Neel, who died on Feb. 23, 1847 in Logan Co., Kentucky, after giving birth to their infant son on Feb. 20, 1847. The infant son was either stillborn, premature or died the same day he was born. Thomas and Mary had three other children: John, Louisa and Presley.
He was remarried on Sept. 16, 1847 in Logan Co., Kentucky to Sarah Ann (Moody) Wright, daughter of Alexander Moody and Ann Neel of Logan Co., Kentucky. Thomas and Sarah had one daughter, Margaret "Maggie" Jane, who was born in 1851 in Logan Co., Kentucky, shortly before the Anderson family settled into Johnson County, Missouri.
