The angel of silence sealed the lips of an angel at her home in Fairfax, Virginia and her soul winged its final flight from this world of pain and sorrow to a place of eternal rest.

She was the daughter of the late Willie and Gracie Edwards Smith. She professed Christ at an early age at Mount Zion Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Richard W. Tompkins of Fairfax, Virginia; three daughters, Donna T. Davis; Almarie Beverly; LindaDianne Tompkins; six grandchildren; three sisters: Dorothy Thomas, Lorraine Harris and Bettie Banks; two brothers, Lloyd and Wilmer Smith; one son-in-law; two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and many friends

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James L. and Willie D. Smith.

Services were held on October 20, 1994 at the Mount Zion Baptist Church, Lynchburg, Virginia.

away from this world of strife.
