Mr. Claussen was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 26, 1917 to Jack and Fahn (Dice) Claussen.
He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1937 where he set the school broad jump school record at 21'6" at the Goshen Relays which held until 1956.
Mr. Claussen served his country during WWII in the United States Army. Among other medals, he received the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, the Purple Heart Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal.
He married Violet Mae Kitchen on March 1, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois and she preceded him in death on January 14, 2000.
He was retired from Flint & Walling in Kendallville where he was the billing clerk.
Along with his wife, they volunteered for many hours and years helping out fellow service men at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was a member of the South Milford Church of Christ.

Son, Rick and Karen Claussen of Wolcottville.
Son, Jeff and Ruth Claussen of Three Rivers, Michigan.
Six grandchildren: Dawn and John Bartels of Orlando, Florida, Darrin Claussen of Laotto, Aimiee and Trey Oldham of Anderson, Seth Claussen of Orlando, Joe and Brooke Claussen of Fort Wayne and Jess Evans of Three Rivers.
Seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Sister, Eleanor Heckaman of Toledo, Ohio.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 29, 2008, from 4:00-7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 11:00am at Hite Funeral Home.
Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Brian Walters and Pastor Trey Oldham.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, Indiana.
