Blankenship, a runner, and Bell; helper, were operating a mining machine. Several other men were nearby but were not injured. Both men have been employed by the Duvin Coal Company for several years.
The bodies were removed from the mine to the Tapp Funeral Home and an inquest was scheduled to be held this afternoon by Coroner Guy Riley.
Surviving Mr. Blankenship are his wife, Lorene; two sons, Frank James, 19, and Bobby, 6; father, J. W. Blankenship of Lisman; three brothers, James Blankenship of Lisman, Guy Blankenship of Waycross, Ga., and Fred Blankenship of Portland, Oregon; two sisters, Mrs. Lila Rice and Mrs. Maurice Pemberton, both of Lisman.
He was a member of the Clay Methodist church.
Surviving Bell are his wife, Rosie, and two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Tapp and Mrs. Dorothy Cabell.
Funeral arrangements for both men are incomplete.
