Obituary:
HUNTER – Mr. Billy Hunter, age 84 of Alpharetta, died November 2, 2007. Mr. Hunter was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in World War II. He served on the Alpharetta City Council for 25 years, many of those as Police Commissioner. Mr. Hunter was honored by the city upon his retirement in 1992 for his dedicated service and numerous accomplishments while a member of the City Council. He was a retired inspector from General Motors with 30 years of service and a long time member of the Alpharetta United Methodist Church. Mr. Hunter was also a long time member of the Alpharetta post of the American Legion where he served as Adjutant for 30 years. He was a member of the Alpharetta Masonic Lodge and the Yaarab Shrine Temple of the Scottish Rite. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea Hunter in 2006. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerome and Connie Hunter of Alpharetta; sister and brother-in-law, Nelda and Ralph Berry of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Mathis Dalton Hunter of Atlanta and Wesley Jerome Hunter of Birmingham, AL; niece, Anne Berry Todd and nephew, Richard Berry. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 5, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Dr. Don Martin officiating. Interment, Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alpharetta United Methodist Church, 69 North Main Street, Alpharetta, GA. 30004. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 to 8 PM and on Sunday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory, Roswell/Alpharetta, 770/645-1414.
