Woodville Examiner, 13 July 1900
Mrs PATRICK SCALLY We regret very much to have to record the demise of the wife of our well-known townsman, Mr Patrick Scally, of Ross Street, which took place this morning about four o'clock, after a brief illness. Pleurisy, we understand, was the cause of death. Mrs Scally was the daughter of the late Mr Collopy, formerly a resident of this town and was born 48 years ago off Plymouth on the voyage out. Thirsty-two years ago to-day she was married to Mr Scally in Wanganui by the Rev Father Lampelliere. It will be a sad anniversary in future for Mr Scally. The deceased lady has been living for over thirteen years in Woodville and leaves two children, Mrs Corby of Wellington and Mr P. Scally jr.
The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon. Mr Scally will have the sympathy of a large number of friends on his loss and to theirs we would also add ours.
Woodville Examiner, 16 July 1900
The funeral of the late Mrs Patrick Scally took place at the Woodville Cemetery yesterday afternoon. After a short service was held in the church, the solemn procession, which was one of the largest ever seen in the district, wended its way to the last resting place of the deceased lady. The various local bodies in the district with which Mr Scally has been connected at one time or another were well represented, while settlers from all over the district testified to the high respect in which the late Mrs Scally was held by their presence. The Rev Father McKenna conducted the service both at the church and at the graveside.
Patrick next married Ellen Theresa Parker (1860-1950) in St Joseph's Church, Te Aroha in 1905. She is buried Terrace End
