Born on October 16,1833 in Hafslo, Sogn og Fjord. Lisabeth was the second of six children born to Jorgen F. Thomasen Houge and Lisabeth Christensdatter Solvie. Lisabeth was confirmed during the summer of her 15th year while in Njos, Norway. When she was 26, she was married in Balestrand to Anfin Johnson Skrenes on Feb 5, 1860. Anfin was listed as a soldier at the time of their marriage. The first child, a daughter Sigrid, was born in Fjaerland. In the spring of 1861, Lisabeth and Anfin packed up their little family and emigrated to America. The Johnson's spent their first six years in Wisconsin and added another daughter to the family. Anfin and Lisabeth found a homestead section in Southern Minnesota and moved to Faribault County. They were some of the first settlers in Emerald Township. The 1900 Federal Census taken in Emerald, states that Lisabeth was the mother of 10 children with 7 living children. According to the local newspaper that printed her obituary, Lisabeth had 10 children and 5 great grand children at the time of her death on November 5, 1912 in Emerald Township, Minnesota.
