Leatha Jane Crockett, daughter of Benjamin H. Crockett & Elizabeth Bingham Thomas.

Leatha married Sylvester Carpenter October 15, 1863 Bloomfield, Greene County Indiana.

To this union nine children were born; only one son survived his parents, Charles Carpenter.
Three girls preceded their mother & father in death, Ellen Elizabeth Carpenter Byers died January 1902, Alice Leatha Carpenter Armistead died September 1906 and Tressa M. Carpenter Cromer died March 1905.
Four children died in infancy, only one baby boy, B. Thomas Carpenter, was listed on the 1870 Census. The other children are unknown.
