Writer, historian and artist. Studied with Otto Gundmann at the Boston Museum School and with Gustave Boulanger and Jules Lefebvre in Paris. His signature painting was "The Eve of Life", which can be viewed at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Other works can be found at The Whistler House Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Toledo Museum of Art. Walter wrote Henri Regnault in 1895. He served as chairman of the Massachusetts State Art Commission and helped found the Maddequet Admiralty Association.
