"STURGEON -- John Payton Keithley, 81, died at his home in Sturgeon at 3:05 p.m. yesterday. He had been in failing health for some time but was seriously ill only for the past few days.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Sturgeon Methodist Church, of which Mr. Keithley was a member. Burial will be in the Mount Horeb Cemetery near Sturgeon.
Mr. Keithley was born near Sturgeon on Feb. 7, 1870, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Keithley, and was one of seven children. His parents moved to Sturgeon when he was an infant. Mr. Keithley married Miss Annie Stoltz on Dec. 21, 1903.
Besides his wife, Mr. Keithley is survived by a son, Harold Keithley of Kansas City; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Winn of Centralia; a granddaughter, Mrs. John Vinson; a grandson, John Frank Keithley; and a great-granddaughter, Miss Kathy Vinson." Columbia Missourian (Columbia, Missouri), March 30, 1951
