Wilma Justina Bahnsen was born June 29, 1919 in Hayfield, Minnesota, to Peter and Louise (Eggert) Bahnsen. She attended and graduated from Wyoming school in 1937. She and Vince Lasack, Jr. were married on November 24, 1938 in Maquoketa, Iowa. They farmed their entire married life on the Lasack family farm in rural Oxford Junction. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on November 20, 1988. Vince died on April 26, 1995. She was known to have raised thousands of capons and her love for baking, especially breads and of course her grandkid's favorite, kolaches, as well as the joy of playing cards. She was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit #473.
Surviving are her two sons, Lynn (Anita) Lasack of Oxford Junction, and Duane (Terry) Lasack of Lowden; 6 grandchildren, Scott, Ryan, Brad, Jill, Chad and Kristi; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, LaVonne (Glen) Miller of Maquoketa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vince, three sisters and two brothers. Wilma died at the Clarence Nursing Home where she has resided since December of 2009.
