Before leaving, John had married Susan Stephens Brooks. They had one child in Cornwall; three more were born in Yorkshire. John moved there family to Lancashire where another child was born in 1889.
Like his father and brother who were miners, John worked also in the mines, but his children worked in the textile mills. This was a new life.
Although they each died in different years, John and Susan are buried in a plot with their oldest son, John Thomas Brooks Dawe in Burnley Cemetery. Because the son was only 25 when he died, I don't believe he ever married. The father, John, lived to enjoy his grandchildren.

Gravesite Details
I have not seen this cemetery, but I was told the section with the Dawe stone, is in an older section. It is in poor condition and not maintained. It was described to me as quite dangerous.
