Our dear and beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Lyle Ray Peterson peacefully returned home to our Heavenly Father October 4, 2003 at the home of his daughter Cozette (Providence, UT) where he lived for the past three years.

He was born in Hyrum, Utah, July 31, 1912 to Ray Andrew Peterson and Sylvia Floss Allen.

He married his sweetheart, Audra Goody November 23, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lyle was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities of leadership. He served as Bishop of the Rigby 4th Ward, Rigby Idaho; Stake Mission President in the Rigby Stake; Counselor in the Rigby Stake Presidency.

He and Audra were called to serve as President of the California North Mission in Oakland, California from July 1965 to August 1968. After their mission, they returned to their home in Rigby, ID.

Most recently, he served as Stake Patriarch in the Bountiful East Stake, Bountiful, UT, where he retained emeritus status until his death. Lyle also served in several civic capacities such as Rigby City Councilman; President of the Rigby Rotary Club; President of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers, Bountiful, UT. Chapter.

He was a renowned building contractor who built many new, and remodeled many existing homes, bridges, public schools, commercial buildings, LDS Meetinghouses, including additions to and remodel of the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital, and Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

He moved from Rigby to Bountiful, UT. in 1969 after becoming employed by the LDS Church (Building Department) as a Regional Supervisor. His responsibilities included at various times, the entire United States, portions of Canada and Puerto Rico.

Children: Kay (Nan), Van (Jean), Daryl (Diane), of Bountiful, UT; Brent of Layton, UT; Zane (Terry) Nelson [Foster Son] of Boise, ID; and daughters, Sharyl (Dan) Durham of Las Vegas, NV; and Cozette Romney, of Logan, UT; 46 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Clair and Gale, and sister Fern (Armstrong). Brothers Terry of Rigby Idaho, and Fay, and Wayne, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, survive him.

Friends may pay tribute to him Friday evening, October 10, 2003 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main in Bountiful, UT, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

A viewing will also be held prior to Funeral Services from 11:30 - 12:45 p.m. at the Bountiful 25th LDS Ward chapel at 1500 South 600 East in Bountiful, UT, prior to Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m.
