He Was Postmaster of Sag Harbor from 1915 to 1923, and had been tax collector, assessor, and Justice of the Peace. He was a member of the local Masonic Lodge, and of the Sag Harbor Presbyterian Church. He married the former Dorothea L. Beyer, who died in I944. Surving are a sister, Mrs. Mabel Backlund of Sag Harbor, and a brother, the Rev. Raymond Vaughn of Southold. Masonic services were held Sunday evening, and the funeral service was held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Yardley and Williams Funeral Home, Sag Harbor, the Rev. Donald Crawford, former minister of the Sag Harbor Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
