For many years Mr. Cain farmed and lived on the Chute 16 road, moving into Caruthersville after he retired around 20 years ago. He was an elder of First Christian Church and remained active in work of the church until his death.
Born at Hornbeak, Tenn. on June 12, 1881, he was the son of Edward and Mary Martha Cain. At. Eldridge, Tenn. on November 2, 1902, he was married to Miss Myrtle Grissom and the family moved to this county in 1907. Mrs. Cain died September 23, 1960.
Funeral services were held at the Christian Church Friday morning with the former pastor, the Rev. John L. Sennett of Clarksdale, Miss. and the Rev. Joe Ben Rhodes officiating. Burial was in Maple Cemetery with H.S. Smith service.
He leaves four sons, C.F. Cain, Dennis Cain and Hoyt Cain of this city and Henry Cain Jr. of Hayti; two brothers, Willie and Alex Cain, both of this city; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
