Gertrude Reed Ax, 80, Downingtown wife of the late Calvin G. Ax., died Monday in the Tel-Hai Nursing Home in Honey Brook Twp.
Born in Lancaster County, She was a daughter of the late Martin L. and Lydia Nagel Reed. She was a member of the Thorndale Methodist Church and is survived by a daughter, Margaret R., wife of Ronald A. Collins, Downingtown.
Surviving are the following step-children, Esther A., wife of T. Hathaway Frain; Charles J. Ax, both of Downingtown, and Rovert H. Ax, Glen Rock, N.J.
Also surviving are these brothers and sisters: Harry M. and Charles L. Reed, Mrs. Norman Swisher, all of Georgetown; Paul C. Reed, Paradise, and Mrs. Arthur Fisher, Lancaster.
Mrs. Ax is survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be from the Ralph W. Ralston Funeral Home, 107 W. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
At the request of the family funeral services will be private and interment will be in Northwood Cemetery. There will be no viewing. The family requests flowers be omitted.
