Oh how I would have loved to have grown up in her home, hearing about the struggles of the Revolutionary War in which her daddy fought.
Grandma Nancy was born in North Carolina, then the family migrated to Washington Co., GA where she married John Hartwell Sheppard. They remained there long enough for at least some of the children to be born. About 1799 the family migrated again to Jackson, Cape Girardeau Co., MO where the family joined the Bethel Baptist Church.
Only child (of fifteen children) not linked:
Arena Adeline (m Solomon Caruthers)
Many thanks to Beth Mitchell for photo of restored headstone and to Brenda Joyce, who first listed and graciously transferred memorial.
June 26, 2013 note from [email protected], "Robert Wicker is listed in DAR Library # A125716."
