RIENZI - Stanley "Gene" Bishop, 71, died Saturday, July 11, 2009, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth after an extended illness. He was a member of Bethel Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Rienzi Rescue Squad for 19 years and the Rienzi Fire Department. He was a farmer and retired as custodian from Biggersville High School.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Bethel Methodist Church with Bro. Jerry Kelly and Bro. Leroy Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home of Booneville is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Bishop of Rienzi; one daughter, Arlene Gooch (Nickey) of Booneville; one son, Jimmy Bishop (Caffie) of Rienzi; two sisters, Polly Robinson and Betty Turvaville (Trenton), both of Booneville; one brother, Milton Bishop (Carolyn) of Rienzi; four grandchildren, Joe Bishop (Amanda) and Kim Vaught (Charles), both of Rienzi and Chris Gooch and April Williams (Chris), both of Booneville; three great-grandchildren, Emily and Landon Gooch and Sarah Grace Vaught; and his mother-in-law, Frances Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson and Rachel M. Downs Bishop; one daughter, Tina Bishop; one granddaughter, Andrea Bishop; three brothers; Aaron Bishop -George Bishop- Victor Bishop three sisters; Inez Bishop Williams- Hazel Irene Bishop Isbell-Nellie Bishop Murphy Thorton- his father-in-law Doug Astain

Pallbearers will be Joe Bishop, Larry Isbell, Bobby Bishop, Johnny Bishop, Brandon Moore and Chris Gooch.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Rienzi Rescue Squad

Visitation will continue until service time today at the chu
