Obituary:
John Barber, a well-known and highly respected citizen of East Wheatfield township, died last Wednesday morning. He has long been in poor health, but his death was occasioned by a sudden attack of pneumonia. Mr. Barber was 55 years old and single. He was justice of the peace of his township, and has long been prominently identified with the educational interests of his school district. In politics he was a Democrat, and at the County Convention held in Indiana last spring he was tendered the nomination of county auditor, and would have entered upon the duties of his office next Monday. His funeral occurred Friday at 1. The interment was in Nineveh graveyard.

The will of the late John Barber, of West Wheatfield, was admitted to probate December 27. Testator directs that his body by interred in the Nineveh graveyard and be marked by a tombstone costing not less than $50. To his housekeeper, Polly Rager, testator devises $2000 in cash, including practically all the household goods and womens' wearing apparel; to David S. Wakefield, is devised $500 in cash and the cider making machine and windmill; to Alexander Wakefield, $100 in cash and office books and mathematical instruments; and $50 to the Nineveh Methodist church. Andrew Kerr is named as executor. The will is dated December 19, 1893, and the witnesses were W. H. McGinley and John B. Jenkins.
