OBITUARY: Newton Daily News, Oct 1991 -- IN MEMORY OF HUBERT MARSHALL
Hubert Marshall, age 90, passed away on Thursday evening, 24 October 1991 at the Westridge Manor in Knoxville, Iowa. He was born near Monroe, Iowa on 31 Mar 1901, the son of George F. and Ulissia [Tool] Marshall. On 26 Dec 1922 he was united in marriage to Flossie Wood at the parsonage of the Monroe Methodist Church. Mr. Marshall is survived by his wife Flossie; a daughter Catharine and son-in-law Edward Johnson of Otley; two sons and daughter-in-laws: Hubert J. and wife Betty of Chyrstal Lake, Illinois, and Paul and wife Marlys of Alta, Iowa. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a sister: Eva Beamer of Casper, Wyoming. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother James and 5 sisters: Florence, Beatrice, Winifred, Ada and Frances. Mr. Marshall was a longtime farmer in the Monroe area and had been a member of the former Tool's Chapel United Methodist Church and was currently a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church. Mr. Marshall enjoyed playing checkers and entered many competitions and won several of these events. Hubert Marshall, 90, a life long resident of the Monroe area, died Thursday evening, Oct. 24, at Westridge Manor in Knoxville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Monroe United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jerry Mc Gee, Pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are a daughter, Catharine (Mrs. Edward) Johnson of Otley; two sons, Hubert J. of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Paul of Alta; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eva Beamer of Casper, Wyo. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and five sisters.
Mr. Marshall, a farmer in the Monroe area for many years, was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church.
The son of George and Ulissia Tool Marshall, he was born March 31, 1901 in Monroe. He was married to Flossie Wood Dec. 26, 1922 in Monroe.

Services for Hubert Marshall, 90, of Knoxville, who passed away 24 October 1991 at Westridge Manor, were held 28 October at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. Rev. Jerry McGee officiated at the services. Music was provided by organist Nora DeReus. Interment was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe, Iowa. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Lloyd Johnson, Laurel Johnson, Steven Marshall, Richard Marshall, David Marshall, Craig Marshall, Brian Marshall and Todd Marshall.
