FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR JOHN HANZLICEK
Funeral Services were held Saturday morning, Dec. 11, at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church for John Hanzlicek. The Rt. Rev. Monsignor Kopecky offered the Requiem High Mass and officiated at the graveside services at Sacred Heart cemetery (sic).
The large number of relatives and friends who attended the final rites bore testimony of the high esteem in which the deceased was held. The community has lost an honorable citizen who had spent more than half a century working for the welfare of his family and the interest of his church and town.
John Hanzlicek was born in Czechoslovakia in 1876 and passed away at the Brodstone Hospital in Superior on Dec. 9, 1948, at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 21 days. He came to the United States as a child and settled at Lawrence, Nebr. Later he moved to Omaha where he worked on a farm.
He was married to Anna Bohnart at Omaha, Nebr., in 1897, where they lived for a year after which they returned to Lawrence, Nebr.
The deceased was the father of seven children, Mrs. Christine Reiman of Lawrence, William of Martel, Joseph of Riverton, Wyo., Henry of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Susan Slaby, Red Cloud, George of Essex, Iowa, Albert of Lincoln. All, with the exception of Henry were present for the funeral service.
Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his passing seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bruha of Fellsmore, Florida and Mrs. Theresa Vosacek of Denver, Colo; one half brother Vit Hanzlicek of Wilson Kans.
Pallbearers were George Koltnik, Frank Hubl, Jo Kitnek, Frank Svoboda, John Beyke, Ben Jurgensmeier.
Relatives attending the funeral from out of town were Jim Hanzlicek and son Jimmy from Denver, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Louie Bohnart and son George from Wood River; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schlick and son of Grand Island and Miss Mary Bohnart of Linneus, Mo.
