MRS. GERHARDT LUTHER

Mrs. Gerhardt Luther, nee Clara Priefert, was born Nov 22, 1880, in Wabasha county, where she lived until she was one year old, then moving with her parents to a farm in By Golly Creek where her early life was spent.

She was married to Gerhardt Luther on March 16, 1899, at Nelson, and together they operated a farm near Nelson until 1916, when they sold out and moved to Arkansaw. Deceased made her home in Arkansaw until her death on April 16 from an illness of about a week of bronchial pneumonia.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 19th from the home at Arkansaw to the Union Church at Nelson, Rev. Grandy of Arkansaw officiating. Burial took place at Nelson Cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Henry and William of Arkansaw, one brother, Henry, and five sisters, Emma, Mrs. Albert Voght, Ida, Mrs. Julius Bast, Tillie, Mrs. Ed Markey, all of Nelson, Annie, Mrs. Louis Aase, Alvina, Mrs. Elmer Smeltzer of Gilmanton, and four grandchildren. Two sisters, Minnie and Lena, and three brothers, Mike, Fred and Robert, preceded her in death. Her mother passed away April 18, 1917 at Nelson and her father Dec. 9, 1924 at the Wabasha Hospital.

Mrs. Luther was a loving character. She was a true friend and kind neighbor. She was a loving wife and mother and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Those present at the funeral from a distance were Mrs. Christina Gautsche and children, Herman, Henry, Minnie, Caroline and families, St. Paul, MN; Mr. and Mrs. George Janett and Mrs. Alfred Hanck of Alma; and a large host of friends from Arkansaw.
