Okee Items. Editor Lodi Valley News. This community feels quite sad over the news received here on Saturday, that our old friend and neighbor of former years, had died at his home in Osage, Iowa, and that his mortal remains would be brought to be interred on Garden Bluff, in West Point, on Tuesday, the 18th inst. His old neighbors feel greatly vexed that the hour is not known when he is to be buried.
Christian Riblet was a resident of West Point near the north point of Gibraltar, so called, twenty-five years ago. About two years later, he sold his place there and purchased the place on which Robert Wilson now resides, where he remained until after the close of the War of the Rebellion. Selling his farm here he removed to Lodi for a year or two, thence to Iowa, where he resided until his death. His remains are to be brought back, accompanied by his stricken wife and oldest son, and laid beside his four children, two of whom died while residing at Okee.
A good neighbor, a faithful friend, a kind husband and an indulgent father has fallen; and many a tear will fall from the eyes of old neighbors, as they gaze with tenderness on the spot where he peacefully rests beside his noble son Myron, and the well remembered Nellie, who died during his residence here. The mourning family will have the sympathy of the community, although all non-residents at this time.
