Rabbi Spitz served B'Nai El Congregation, St. Louis, Missouri for over 41 years (1879-1920) and he is listed along with other rabbis who served St. Louis congregations. His tenure at B'nai El was one of the longest periods of service to a congregation of any rabbi who ever served in St. Louis. You can find the full list at SAINT LOUIS RABBIS.

Rabbi Spitz served as Rabbi for Congregation Emanu-El, Milkwaukee, Wisconsin from 1872-1878. The congregation would eventually become Congregation Emanu-El b'nai Jeshurun (after 1927)

Rabbi Spitz was the Editor and Publisher and founder of THE JEWISH VOICE during the life of that weekly paper from 1888-1920. THE JEWISH VOICE ceased publication after Spitz died in 1920.

St. Louis had two Jewish papers in 1905. The Jewish Voice, successor to The Jewish Tribune, was founded in 1876 by Godlove, Friedman, and Wolfner. The Revs. S. H. Sonnenschein and Moritz Spitz later became joint owners of the paper, which wa eventually edited and owned by the latter. In 1901 The Modern View, owned and edited by A. Rosenthal, made its first appearance.
