She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Herman Rudder and later her second husband, Algie J. Bowes; her son, Darrell Martin Rudder, and her daughter, Judith Lee Rudder.
She was a member of the Flat River Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bowes was owner and operator of Katie's Kitchen for a several years where she worked with her sister, Martha Rudder; Katie also worked for her son, H. Michael from 1976 to 1983.
Survivors include her son, H. Michael Rudderof Roxboro, two sep-sons, Ronnie Bowes and wife, Jan and Tommy Bowes and wife Tinka both of Roxboro, her daughter-in-law, Darlene Rudder of Hurdle Mills; three sisters, Martha A. Rudder of Hurdle Mills, Nettie A. Solomon of Prospect Hill, Naomi A. Davis of Redisville, 2 grandchildren, Kathy Winstead and husband Wesley of Hurdle Mills and Amanda Rudder, 3 great grandchildren, Jack Winstead, Kaity Suitt, and Brenna Winstead; 5 Step Grandchildren: Rodney Bowes, Kristin B. Horner, Chris Bowes, Corey Bowes, John Walker and Jeremiah Solomon; several nieces and nephews including a special niece Betsy Norris.
