Markus W. Bates, 89, Millville, Dies Sunday
Markus W. Bates, 89, retired farmer, died at his home in Millville on Sunday, October 16, from a stroke which he had suffered four days earlier.
Deceased was born at Ellsworth, Wis., on August 16, 1849. He was married to Caroline Whitney at Chetek, Wis., on January 24, 1891. They later moved to Oronoco, Minn., and in 1919 moved to Millville, which has been his home for the past 19 years.
He is survived by his wife three sons, Nelson at home, Roy of Thief River Falls, Wis., and Harry of Dover, and one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Lindemer of St. Charles.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 1:00 p.m. from the Schleicher Funeral Home in Millville and interment was made in Millville cemetery. Rev. C. Kreonlein officiated.
