MRS. NANNIE GROVES AT CLOSE LIFE'S JOURNEY
Aged Resident Laid to Rest in Maple Grove Cemetery This Afternoon
Funeral services for Nannie Groves, 91, were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Barker Funeral Home. Mrs. Groves, one of Milford's oldest residents, expired at 3:30 am Tuesday at Iroquois hospital in Watseka where she had been a patient the past four weeks. She had been in failing health for many months, suffering from pneumonia in December. While at the hospital she suffered two paralytic strokes.
Rev. Wm. D. Nice, pastor of the Milford Church of Christ, officiated at the funeral service. Mrs. Juanita Laird sang hymns, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Meet Me There". Mrs. Waneta Osborn was the pianist.
There were many beautiful floral pieces which were in charge of members of the Royal Neighbor Lodge. Pallbearers were Grant Holt, W. S. Sarjent, Hubert Jesse, Fred Lyons, Harvey Lyon and William McGill. Interment was made in Maple Grove cemetery.
Deceased was born on Jan. 16, 1855 at Winston Salem, NC, a daughter of Jackson and Lydia Dodd. In 1886 she was untied in marriage with Ethan Hoover. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Carrie Holt and Orth Hoover, both of Milford. Mr. Hoover passed away in 1914. Her second marriage was to Elias Groves who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1925.
Surviving in addition to the two children are two grandsons, Orth Hoover, Jr. of Milford and Russell Hoover of Pompano, FL and one great grandson, Ronnie
