Mr. Edward Jefferson Luke, 79, widower of Mrs. Katie Tant Luke, of Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, Georgia, entered into rest at 7:45 a.m. Monday, January 30, 1967 in a local hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church, the Rev. Leroy Harris will officiate with the Rev. Olin Sizemore assisting. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Gaylord Gould, Weldon Morris, Claude Maddox, Lamar Frost, Clarence Lowe and William M. Mays. A native of Richmond County, he was the son of the late Elijah Franklin and Virginia Reid Luke. He was retired and a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Otis W. Luke, Augusta; three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Williams, Memphis, Tenn., Miss Trudell Luke, Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Nettie Anthony, Augusta; two brothers, William D. Luke, Augusta, and Marion I. Luke, Delray Beach, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Mary V. Phillips, Augusta; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Elliott Sons.
