CORRECTION: Although it was commonly believed that William was born in 1900, he is shown as "Willie Martin, age 9m", on the first day of June in the 1900 census, making his birthday in August 1899.  His registered birth name was "Wilbur".  He used the last name "Rohrbacher" throughout his youth and then used "William Martin" when he applied for his marriage license.  From then on he was known as "Bill".

William C. Martin, 59, of 615 Ontario Ave., died Sunday afternoon at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital following a short illness.  Born Aug. 18, 1900 [see correction above], in Milwaukee, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur P. Martin, he made his home in Sheboygan since his childhood.

He attended schools in Sheboygan and on May 21, 1923, was married to Miss Mabel Wisch in the parsonage of the First Methodist Church.  Mr. Martin was employed as a mechanical engineer for a number of firms in the Sheboygan area and for the past year and a half was the custodian at the First Methodist Church.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Sheboygan chapter of the National Association of Power Engineers.  Survivors are his wife, one son, [withheld], a daughter, [withheld], and three grandchildren.  Also surviving are two stepbrothers, [withheld], and four half-sisters, [withheld], all of Sheboygan.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Glen Siferd, pastor of the First Methodist Church at Sheboygan Falls, officiating in the absence of the Rev. T. Parry Jones.  Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.  The body will lie in state at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapels until 11 a.m. Wednesday, and at the church from Wednesday noon until the hour of services.  A memorial for the First Methodist Church is being established in Mr. Martin's. name.
