Andrew Dinkel Drowns in a Well
Andrew A. Dinkel, who lives on a farm south of Ellis fell into a well last Friday afternoon and drowned in four feet of water. His wife was present but was unable to save him Mr. Dinkel intended to repair the pump. He fixed up a platform in the well about 30 feet below the well platform. He suddenly began to reel and fall over. His wife caught him by the arm but, Dinkel being rather a heavy man she was unable to hold him. He fell to the bottom of the well and drowned before his terrified wife could get help to pull him out. The funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon from St. Mary's Catholic church. The deceased leaves a wife and five children to mourn his death.
