Margaret Ellen Pickel, daughter of Fred and Nancy Pickel, was born in Clay County, October 10, 1867, and passed away at her home, March 27, 1944 at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 17 days.

She was united in marriage with William H. Mulvany, Jan. 16, 1889. To this union was born six children, five sons and one daughter: Loyd, Lonnie and Freddie of this community and Clark and Arvie of Salem.

The daughter Carrie passed away in 1905. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and her husband.

She united with the Brown Christian church, when quite young, and remained a faithful Christian until her death.

She was a faithful attendant as long as her health would permit.

Surviving her are her five sons, 18 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. One niece, Mrs. Maud Gray of Marseilles, Ill., was the only child of her deceased sister. Two of her grandsons, Roy Combs and Gerald Mulvany are now serving in the armed forces of the United States government.

Aunt Ella, as she was commonly known, always had the interest of her children and grandchildren at heart, and stood ready to help them and her neighbors in any way that she could.

She will be sadly missed by all, but let us not grieve, as she has passed on to a better earned reward.

Freddie and his family had lived in the home with her, for nearly four years, and did all that they could for her.

She spend nearly her entire life in this community, except a few years, when she lived in oskaloosa. Let us all follow her example, and some day we shall meet her again.
