Michael James Kopsie, 69, of 263 S. 12th St., Wood River, was pronounced dead on arrival at 12:15 p.m. Monday at Wood River Township Hospital after a four-month illness.
He was a maintenance man for City Fuel Co. in Alton for 35 years until retiring.
He married the former Belle Hamby on Sept. 24, 1961, in Bethalto.
Besides his wife, the Rev. Belle Kopsie, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Rose Warren of Alton; a daughter, Mrs. Elaine Boyer of Granden, Mo.; five sons, Ronnie of Alameada, Calif., James and Richard, both of Cottage Hills, Carl of Ft. Worth, Tex. and Michael Jr. of Alton; 32 grandchildren; a brother, Charles of Alton; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Horn of Alton and Mrs. Ann Wyman of Alton and a stepson, Charles L. Brunk of Milwaukee, Wis.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in East Alton with the Rev. Henry Cripten officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
The full Gospel Tabernacle has been named as a memorial.
