CLEVELAND - Services for Mrs. Minnie Swafford Griffin, 80, widow of T. L. Griffin were held Friday at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Thweatt-King Funeral Home with the Rev. C. N. Sandifer of Jackson officiating. Burial was in the Enon Cemetery Ackerman under the direction of Thweatt-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Griffin died in the Coahoma County Hospital in Clarksdale on Thursday at 6:30 a. m following several days illness.
A native of Marietta, Ga., she moved to Ackerman as a child. She and T. L. Griffin were married in 1909 in Ackerman and engaged in farming, prior to moving to Cleveland in 1922 where they continued farming until his retirement in 1948. Since his death in 1957 she had made her home with her children. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Roswell, Ga.
She Is survived by three sons, Rupart Griffin of Jackson, George Griffin of Greenville and Joe Griffin of Cleveland; six daughters, Mrs. Ward (Lois) Montgomery of Sturgis; Mrs. H. 0. (Cleo) Wall of Lancaster, Calif., Mrs. H. F. (Pauline) Fitzgerald of Clarksdale, Mrs. Lewis (Euna) Thompson of Greenville, Mrs. Clarence (Tommie) Houghton of Memphis and Mrs. Bruce (Jessie) Harris of Leferra, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. S. O. Burrow of Oak Grove, La.; 19 grandchildren, J2 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
