Florence Augusta Benson, daughter of Jonathan and Sarah Benson, was born Feb. 10, 1866, at LaPorte, Ind. When a small child her parents moved to KS where they homesteaded. The town of Sterling is now located on part of the homestead. Later they moved to Springfield, Mo., where she grew to young womanhood. February 5, 1885, she was united in marriage to Benjamin F. Aton. To this union, seven children were born, all of whom survive. At an early age she gave her heart to God and united with the Methodist church. She as an active worker in church and Sunday school until ill health prevented. She was a devoted wife and mother, a friend to all.

After being ill the past two years she passed away last Thursday morning, aged 82 years, 9 months and 22 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing the husband; three daughters Myrtle, Mrs. Roscoe O'Brien and Mrs. Glenn Greenfield; four sons John, W. I., Robert and Myron; 23 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; also a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Phillips Funeral Home, Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. C. O. Crockett of Springfield conducting the service.

A quartet, Mrs. Melvin Wagoner, Mrs. Keith Nathnagel, Melvin Wagoner and Walter Wirth sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Lester Fisher.

Those in charge of the flowers were Miss Mary O'Brien, Mrs. Ethel Cox, Mrs. Naomi Lantz and Mrs. Jennie Bundy.

Pallbearers were Fred Lollar, Robert Patterson, P. B. Haeberle, Emrie Jordan, Ernest Denny and Fred Markwick.

Interment was in the IOOF cemetery, the Phillips Funeral Home being in charge.
