GUTTENBERG, Iowa -- Eldon L. Parker, 79, of Guttenberg, was called to heaven Wednesday, July 1, 2009, from the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital with his family by his side.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Guttenberg, with the Rev. Marvin Bries officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Guttenberg. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Guttenberg. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1930, in Patch Grove, Wis., son of Charles and Flossie (Bush) Parker. He graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1948, and worked for John Deere Dubuque Works for 33 years, until his retirement.

He married Mary Kann on July 24, 1956, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guttenberg. In the years to come, they were then blessed with four children.

He was a member of the Guttenberg American Legion.

Eldon's life was fulfilled with hunting, fishing, golfing, reading and spending time with his family.

He will be forever loved by his wife, Mary; four children, Debra Mormann and Dan (Nancy) Parker, both of Guttenberg, Daryl (Cindy) Parker, of Bellevue, and Diane (David) Meyer, of Edgewood; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Helen (Paul) Barton and Colleen Grant, both of Dubuque, and JoAnn (Don) Dondelinger, of Escondido Calif.; and two brothers, Clyde (Adel) and Gary Parker, both of Guttenberg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Willie, Bob and Don Parker.
