Virginia A. "Ginny" Beer, 76, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2009, at Woodcrest Retirement Community's Nursing Center.
Born on March 11, 1933, in Adams County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Forest J. and Mary A. (Garner) Railing. She married LeRoy Beer Jr. on December 31, 1952. He passed away on December 5, 1996.
She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church in Decatur. Ginny also was a homemaker and had worked at Lincoln Life Insurance at Fort Wayne and at Holthouse-on-the-Highway, Hammond's IGA grocery store, Woodcrest Nursing Center, and Sportsline, all in Decatur.
Survivors include two sons, Timothy G. (Darla) Beer and Tony A. (Linda) Beer, both of Decatur; two daughters, Mrs. Steven (Vicki L.) Rich of Decatur and Mrs. Elias (Teresa) Salmons of Monroe; one sister, Helen Sills of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a son David, in November of 1998; four brothers, Morton, Alton, Joseph, and Gordon Railing; and a sister, Anna "Voni" Barker.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the funeral home with calling one hour prior to service. Rev. Mark Beers will officiate and burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Memorials are to Cornerstone Community Church's Benevolent Fund.
