Morton A. Railing dies at hospital
Morton A. Railing, 51 of 1032 Russell street, died Tuesday at Harper hospital in Detroit, Mich., where he had been a patient for the past five weeks.
Mr. Railing served for seven years as an investigator for the internal revenue service.
Born in Decatur Feb. 6, 1919, he was a son of Forest J. and Mary Garner-Railing, and was married to Helen Kelly June 28, 1947.
Mr. Railing was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist church and the Sons of the American Revolution. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Miss Candace M. Railing of Detroit, Mich., Miss Melody D. Railing and Miss Tamara A. Railing, both at home; his mother Mrs. Mary Railing of Decatur, and three sisters, Mrs. Chester (Vonnie) Barker of Decatur route 3, Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Sills of Decatur, and Mrs. LeRoy (Virginia) Beer, Jr., of Decatur route 4. Three brothers are deceased.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Winteregg-Linn funeral home, with Rev. Fuhrman Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday until time of the services.
