Joseph is the youngest son was born in Boones Creek area of Washington Co., TN and moved to this area when he was only ten. He and his family are the only one to remain in the Beaver Ridge/Ball Camp area. The majority of his property was purchased from his brothers. In 1860 he owned 600 acres.

He built his home near Beaver Creek on what is now Garrison Road. His family gave the acreage for the Lebanon Cemetery and Church. He and his wife Delilah are buried in the cemetery.

Joseph and wife Delilah had eight known living children.
