Patronell Fahnlander, 96, a resident of 201 North Sixth Street in Staples, died Wednesday, March 9, at the United District Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church with father Leon Slominski officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Hill Cemetery. The Brenny Funeral Home, Belling Huff Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

She was born on May 3l, 1891at Motley, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Charles and Julia (Adamietz) Nelson. She lived in Motley, and in Moran Township before coming to Staples with her parents in 1903. She worked at the Fletcher Hotel before becoming a telephone operator.

She married Eugene B. Fahnlander in June of 1915. After his death on May 7, 1946, she worked for Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator until her retirement at age 65.

She loved sewing, quilting, crafts, fishing and travel. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, where she was an original member of Circle 1. She was currently a member of Circle 9. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality, a member of the Women's Relief Corp, and she worked for the Red Cross several years ago.

Patronell Fahnlander is survived by one son, Leo of Staples; one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Marie) Heier of Staples; one brother, Glen Nelson of El Paso, Texas; two sisters, Julie Wrede of Little Falls, and Kathryn Skruppy of Minneapolis; 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. Her husband, Eugene, three sons, four grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were Michael Heier, Eugene Heier, Peter Fahnlander, John Fahnlander, Anthony Moffitt, and Daniel Moffitt.
