Burt's headstone does not list a date of birth, and family tree records do not have an exact date, either. In the 1900 U.S. census, his birth is listed as January 1881, which seems to match the age in his World War I documents. Burt was married and divorced, but this is only known from 1910 census information (see below); the marriage occurred and dissolved between the 1900 and 1910 U.S. censuses, but no other info is known.
It was also in 1910 that Burt can first be found in Oklahoma, not Arkansas. This is also where he lived at the time of his Army enlistment during World War I in 1918. By the time of the 1920 census, Burt's father and stepmother were now residents of Oklahoma as well (although they would return to Arkansas).
Before he died, Burt lived near his younger half-sister, Vina C. Forrester in Haskell County, OK, and it was Vina's husband, Claude ("C.L.") Forrester, who actually applied for the military headstone now on display at Star Cemetery.
His date of death is recorded in the Sebastian County, Arkansas Births and Deaths, 1877-1963 as December 5, 1923 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Considering the birth date found in census, he would have been age 42. The circumstances of his death are not known.
