The following information for this memorial page was taken from census records and cemetery stones for death dates. Researcher Susan Garske Sylvester

I had to page through the Leeds census records for the Lombar family for 1861. Neither Francis Lombar or Charles Lombar came up on ancestry.com so after paging through I found them on image 283/816.

The 1861 Census shows Charles Lombar married and with children. I could find no marriage record. Cemetery headstones refer to his wife as Mary but the census has her as Margaret so Mary Margaret for her name. They are living in Elmsley, Leeds, Ontario. His father and mother were living with the family. Charles was farming for his occupation. Charles was 28 and born in Canada. Margaret was 25 and born in Ireland. Living with them were the following children: Julia Ann (Writing was terrible!) age 7; Francis age 5; and Charlotte age 4. His father Francis was age 88 and his mother Ann was 60. (Jan Vanderzande has researched the family and confirmed that Charles was the son of Francis and Ann.)

Something terrible happens to this family in 1862. First Charles dies on March 8, 1862; then his daughter Charlot dies on March 15, 1862; and finally his son Francis dies on March 17, 1862. Mary Margaret Lombar was left with just one child alive. Charles' father, Francis, will die a year later on June 9, 1863. All of these family members are buried in the Lombar Family Cemetery.

Jane Vanderzande has provided an account of the family's deaths taken from the Brockville Recorder and Times 3-30-1978

"Charles died at the age of 32 after being scalded in a farm accident. He was carrying a large pot of scalding hot water to the slaughterhouse when he tripped and fell, being deluged with the boiling water. He died a week later.
Two of Charles three daughters died that year of diphtheria and are buried in the same cemetery." Looking at the census record, a son and daughter had died that year.
