Our wonderful mom, Grayce Estelle Major Tingey, passed away in the early hours of June 21, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah from complications of pneumonia. She will be sorely missed. She resided at 98 Rosewood Circle in Centerville, Utah at the time of her death.

Grayce was born to Robert Bruce Major and Pearl Estelle Burnett on September 14, 1922 in Kaysville, Utah.

She grew up there and graduated from Davis High School. She also graduated from LDS Business School.

On October 24, 1941, she married our father, Derrell Beryl Tingey, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Centerville, Utah and raised four children there: Derrell Major Tingey, Bruce Kent Tingey, Trina Tingey West and Curtis Major Tingey. Dad passed away on September 19, 1982 and mom missed him every day for the past 27 years.

Mom's beautiful name, Grayce, was so fitting. She was an elegant lady, generous to a fault, an avid reader, a gracious hostess, a gifted teacher, a skilled cook, a faithful friend, a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a doting grandmother. Mom had an abiding testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved things of beauty and enjoyed traveling around the world.

She served throughout her life in many callings in every organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, her favorites being Relief Society President, Young Women leader and Gospel Doctrine teacher. Service was the hallmark of her life. She truly wore out her earthly body in service to those she loved.

Grayce is survived by two sons: Bruce K. Tingey (Rita), Centerville; and Curtis M. Tingey (Susan), Fruit Heights; son-in-law, David West, Santaquin; Elizabeth Maughan Tingey, Kaysville; brother, Robert B. Major, Kaysville. She leaves behind 18 grandchildren that she spoiled shamelessly, each believing they were her favorite and 33 great-grandchildren. She was joyfully reunited with those who preceded her: husband, Derrell B. Tingey; son, Derrell M. Tingey; daughter, Trina Tingey West; great-granddaughter, Mikayla Renee Tingey; sisters, Virginia Major Green, Gloria Major Crawley; brother, Paul B. Major, and many extended relatives that she dearly loved.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Centerville North Stake Center, 1475 North Main Street, Centerville, Utah. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, and on Friday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Church prior to the services.
