Franklin Lockhart died at his home at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning after a lingering illness of almost a year. Deceased was born September 19, 1852, and passed to his eternal rest September 3, 1907; aged 54 years, 11 months and 14 days.
He was united in holy bond of matrimony to Miss Geneva Hutchings on August 17, 1874. Twelve children were born to bless this union; with the exception of one son who died in infancy all remain to mourn his loss. The eldest Mrs. Cora Peret, Centralia, Kansas, Austin Lockhart, Towner, North Dakota, Mrs. Laura Moore, Oneida, Kansas, Mrs. Viola Clelland, Atchison, Kansas, and seven children remaining at home, also nine grand-children.
Early in the spring it was painfully apparent to his many friends that his days on earth were numbered. Everything that was possible was done to prolong his life and alleviate his suffering, but the death-angel had placed his seal upon his brow.
The funeral services were held at the home at 10 a.m. Thursday, conducted by Rev. Fisk of Sabetha. A goodly number of sorrowing friends gathered to pay the last tribute of respect to the departed. The remains were laid to rest at the Fairview cemetery near Goff. To the bereaved and grief-stricken wife and children we can only extend our heart-felt sympathy, and point them to Him who doeth all things well.
CARD OF THANKS
We desire to extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the many neighbors and friends for their kindly sympathy and assistance during the illness and death of our beloved husband and father. -- Mrs. F. P. Lockhart and family
